This hoop is inspired by the famous shipwreck at Rhossili Bay.
A mix of fabrics, including hessian, felt and an imitation leather, have been layered to mimic the beautiful landscape. On top of the ‘beach’, a shell has been encased in iridescent embroidery floss. I found this shell on a walk at Rhossili Bay! Charms and silver toned beads have been hand embroidered below the shell. Deep green vines have been embroidered in the foreground of the landscape, with the stems reaching down and around the outer hoop. The blue fabrics used for the sea have been ruched and embellished with ivory and clear beads, to mimic the waves crashing against the shore.
This design is framed in a 4” wooden hoop, which has been hand stained in an oak finish.
The back of this hoop is covered so the stitches are not visible. The edges have been glued down to fix them to the hoop. This embroidery is not designed to be taken out of the hoop. This hoop can be hung on a wall or also looks just as pretty propped up on a shelf.
